Island Life Devlog #002 It is good day to be ​not dead.​


Island Life is dead? 
Island Life is alive! Is nice.

For starters, hi! It was some time since the last update, due to personal life (Finals are not much comfy and eat a lot of time), but since I'm almost done with them, it's time to get back to work! There will be a major update soon - here's what's gonna be added!

  • Engine change! - this one is a really major one. I'm migrating from GB Studio to PICO-8 for several reasons. Don't take me wrong, GB Studio is a great engine with a lot of potential due to the open source nature of it, but I'm more used to writing code by myself instead of using drag 'n' drop methods. Due to the engine change, several new features will be added:
    • 16-bit graphics - while GameBoy palette has it's own charm, it also comes with some limitations. Not only that, but a lot of people also find it "unattractive" and it's an instant turn-off for them.
    • Music and sound effects - yes, finally! After reading up a bit on music theory, I feel ready to give it a try, so you will see the results once the update comes.
  • Character select (?) - if engine won't make any problems with that, at the start you will be able to choose between original female character, Lady or TP Restoration main hero, Alex!
  • Inventory (?) - so far, player was able to collect fish, but except for catching legendary one, there was no much for them. Now you will actually see them in your inventory along other items you collect on your journey.
  • Probably even more!

So yeah, there is a lot to look forward to. The update most likely will come live at the beginning of the next month.
